Thanks for looking and reading, Ed. I have fond memories of Farnham and Surrey - I did a university photo department school exchange there some years ago! Let me know if you happen to visit the Hudson Valley in the future, would love to meet in person.
Having spent many hours as a teenager staring at Church's "Rainy Season in the Tropics" at the DeYoung, I was immediately pulled into your post. I now live a few blocks from a beautiful stretch of the American River and go almost daily to the same spot to record an image of the light there. Thank you.
Hi Patrick, thanks for the comment. I would love to see your images of the same spot on the American River, feel free to share a link here or email me directly (contact page on my website - notlikehere.org).
Lovely set Alon. Something I’ve seen done before by others. I really like how it shows the subtle changes in light, colour and even texture.
Looking is what photography makes us do and sets of images like this show us shifts and pattens that a single image cannot do. I think it’s a great technique.
Thank you Paul for the kind words and encouragement! I am doing the same technique on a couple of other spots but this location works really well with different light and weather conditions.
I would agree that working in series, or projects, and working locally, are key to making meaningful work. Even places far away I try to get to repeatedly. You need to really know the subject to make a good image.
Thanks for liking my latest newsletter. What a beautiful set of images here, Alon. It's making me remember the Hudson Valley fondly.
